  • SPARE (Not that one)

OK... So overdue for a post... Still have some final details...

Like what kind of spare to have... A full size tire on a 9x15 or even 6x15 won't fit in the front due to the R6 - RSR style sheetmetal ducting for the front oil cooler... So I will probably just carry a single 9x15 and 11x15 with tires mounted in the back whenever I go somewhere... thinking about a nice way to do that... Welcome any ideas - preferably with photos!

In the meantime, we found a Vredstein collapsable spare from a later model car (Mercedes C class or SLK I think), and found a shop that would mount it on a Braid 6x15 for the front... mainly for the look, not as a spare (not sure I would trust it at anything more than 20-30 KMH for a very short distance)...

Here are a couple of photos...

    • I’m not a fan of a heavy unsecured object behind my head in case of an emergency stop or accident.. a can of foam flat repair and an electric air pump in the trunk seems a better plan!

Yes... Even a car that lived solely in California can rust...

Wow, that sounds like quite the project! It's always fascinating to witness the transformation of a car, especially a 911 post-engine fire. Gb Whatsapp Apk

        • These days so few cars have spares. As long as you live in a populated area, or get run-flat tires, you'll be fine.
Just keep some spares at home that can be shipped out to you quickly.

          • Been a while since the last update... Schtroumpf is in for the winter, and waiting for Spring... May have the MFI pump "breathed" on by Mittelmotor... They have an electronic sensor based MFI pump to dial in and create custom pump space cams, and can see between 10-20% increases in overall HP and a much smoother torque curve...

Latest photo from Differs, where she is for the winter... I've also made this photo the background for my Chrome browser - Thanks Google!

It has been quite the journey... and of course I couldn't leave well enough alone, so already picked up a 1974 2.7 Carrera (SEP 73 build with the RS chassis mods) to driver level restore... Engine and gearbox already out and being disassembled... Will start to get that added here or start a new thread...
