  • Rear sway bar install, pin position on trailing arm?

I am installing a rear sway bar on my '69. The brackets on the shell are done, and I have the long pins to fit into the trailing arms.
Does anyone have a reference for drilling the trailing arm? There should be a bulletin for that but I can not find it.

There is a dimple where you drill and the pin passes through and welds onto the banana part proper.. should be perpendicular to the flat surface. Has to be just right or it binds and is noisy, ask me how I know.

I can't say I noticed it yet, but will look again. Thanks.

A search on Early S should find a (sorry John) photo shoot I did years ago on how to do that.

            Hi Haul,
I have seen the thread across the hall, but your pics there are missing the relevant measurements.

Well, dumb*ss me has found with help from Haul the procedure.... for short wheelbase trailing arms. I have a '69.

Based on Chiro's post above the ball needs to be welded in, correct? The dimple is indeed there on the reinforcment plate.

To further the question: does the ball pin need to be welded only on its support plate or also on the banana arm itself behind the support plate? Surprisingly little reference on the internet.

Both places, get what you can access where the pin contacts the arm.
