  • Door pocket carpet install

So getting to the end of my carpet installation. Before I cut and glue does this look correct? At what height does the vinyl end? Old vs. New

it ends at the bottom of knee pad. that is how your original is
you need to fight it to keep the same width from threshold width all the way up to the kneepad then fold at top and glue into weather strip channel.
your original installer on the original rugs, did not fight as hard as i would .... but looks "acceptable"

I think it turne out ok, not as good as Bob, but for me looks good. Can't tuck all passengers carpeting in or the A/C won't get flow. Lots of fold from the carpet sitting in a box and the weather being cold. Once it wears in I'll try and hit it with a heat gun to get it tie better.

Took lots of tugging to get in place. I can see how ordering unbound allows one to cut in areas. It is a tiny bit big in some areas eg. can't seem to get it under the seat rails on the drivers side.

the heat gun, or a steamer is the magic weapon.
it looks good, Prety much as i have seen some factory jobs
if you need to alter the rug under the seat
you can remove the thread that binds the rug. pull away the vinal out of your way and cut the rug material to fit
then restitch the binding back in place
note: don't cut binding unless absolutely necessary. it should not be

Just doing kick panels now on a 66 911, I think it's my fifth carpet set install. I always start with kick panels first. Everything goes easy after that -- some trimming should be expected. Also, when gluing the vinyl piece just under the dash into the door seal channel, fold over and glue about an eighth inch of vinyl at the top so you don't have a raw, cut edge exposed. It looks like you did this? This applies to the tops of the A and B pillar vinyl and other sections of vinyl that dead end. Hope that makes sense!
