Here is my 1967 racecar. It started life as a 912, but when I blew that engine racing we converted it to a 2.0 911. Last week I had it on track at a PCA HPDE for its shakedown after a 2 1/2 year engine rebuild (hampered by machine shop delays and screw-ups). Near the end of the third session I downshifted to 3rd and BANG....smoke in the cockpit, and no power in any gear. I was worried about the gearbox, the clutch...but it turned out to just be a broken CV joint. Lots easier and cheaper to fix; I actually carry a spare Lobro axle in my race trailer. The next outing will be a SCCA race in August.
