Harvesting the center pieces from the 48mm brake pistons
    used a 22mm hole saw......
Also pictured new stainless-steel pistons from PBM performance.

      I believe there was
but much smaller than what you show.
I will figure it out later when I line up the trim pieces and figure if it was strictly for shimming or noise/rattle abatement.

Installing knock back mechanisms into new PMB performance pistons.
        Inserting pistons into caliper halves.
Bolting together caliper halves and torquing bolts......

you can't always get what you want......
            but...........
I have never got a part so impressively packaged.....
It was not supposed to have the nipple.
so now i guess i will have to metal work it away and then paint the entire Click image for larger version Name:	DSCN1567.jpg Views:	0 Size:	177.9 KB ID:	10778 exchanger to look like the original ones..........

I think they make them all with the nipple for economy of inventory, that way it fits if you need it, and if you don't just cap it off. Not enough sales of this kind of part to warrant making one with, and one without.

                Yes Ed. that is true
However, this was to be a unique purchase.
They were to be painted the original Porsche color and not have the nipple.
The transaction started a month earlier so as to get enough buy-ins
then when i called in to pay they said they had an inventory discrepancy.
They quickly rectified the inventory problem and said i was in for one
They sent me a purchase order.
I paid it, and it cleared my bank.
then days went by with out further notice.
I contacted them ( a different salesperson) and it then shipped as you see it.
I believe what happened was that it was processes straight thru with current inventory (possibly by mistake), The picture shows what current inventory looks like.
So when i asked about what happened i was not conected to the original sales person and told that they could not get the ones that i was promise.
Frankly.... I believe they figured they could not make it right because the return shipping would eat their profits....
No problem................. I work for cheap these days.............

Had a real mess on my hands
these "restored" a arms had the ball joint and stabilizer brackets upside down and the rubber bushings were set at near level.
I asked Chuck at Elephant about how to reset the rubber bushings and he suggested soaking in soapy water overnight.
Well.... that and squirting it with soapy water as i moved them worked out just fine...
Was able to set both rears at 15 degrees and both fronts at 19 degrees.

Where the attachment piece between the sway bar and the drop links painted black in 68? I thought on earlier cars like my 66, these were anodized yellow zinc?

                              Hi Mat
I dont have good data on the droplink.
the workshop manuals are foggy with a bit of glimmer that they were yellow
The top restores are going with yellow
My mission on this car is to build it as the design engineers would have if they were present to "hands on" the build
I am not building a concourse car.
I will smooth out and finesse things that the factory passed over.
So I opted to make those parts black
too much of the yellow makes the car look like a circus wagon.............
