  • Anodizing

I'd like a fresh and current start on this topic.
Who does fantastic anodizing? Soup to nuts restoration; not simply plating. (That's easy.)

    Tru6 or ?

Unfortunately. KIng of Trim was sold several years ago and their work has gone downhill ever since. Even Marcos, the original owner, told me to stop using them after my third plating disaster. Tom, have you used them recentl? Any chance they've straightened their sh*t out?

Sean at Tru-6 is the only person I know doing it right these days although he doesn't do the plating in-house.

They used to and they did it well. But they screwed up my last one so bad that Marcos came back after selling the place to fix it for me.

I don't know about grilles, but a job that KoT did in 2019 was excellent and quick. I visited the shop and was favorably impressed. Was the sale before or after 2019?

Before. 2015/2016. Maybe they've gotten it together again? Would be nice. We need all the specialists we can get.

I have some trim Tru6 did for a car I'm building for Doug DePew. The trim is part 68, front door vent windows, and 69. Nice work. But turn around time was over a year.

We offer a polishing and anodizing service. If you polish we can have it anodized for you. Most of the cost is in the polishing. Www.calipercreations.com

What do you charge for a set of 69-73 window frames and quarter window frames? What's the turn around time and have you done them before?

If you do the polishing yourself then the anodizing would be around $1500 or whatever rate I am quoted at the time. Unfortunately we have seen a large increase from our anodizers over the last year. Polishing would be an hourly charge and really depends on the condition of the aluminum (anywhere from $1200 and higher) I highly recommend doing the polishing yourself to save a lot of $. I have done it for my car and can send over some pictures. If you are planning to be at the parade this year feel free to come and take a look at my car. It will be in the restoration concours on the 13th.

Is this what is called 'bright dip' anodizing?
