I had to do this out of order due to the shutz gun acting up...
I undercoated the inside of the door shells and then primed and then shot light ivory with a clear coat. Click image for larger version

while preparing the door frames for polishing, I went thru the clear on a high spot
this forced my hand to make the decision to treat the door frames as I did the rest of the body
this meant color sanding and shooting a final clear coat.

first piece to be color sanded and buffed engine lid.
block sanded with 1000 and 1500, then wet sanded thru the progressions with D.A, 1000,1500. 2000.and 3000
Then wet sanded by hand in one direction with 3000 then 5000
    Buffed with 3m compound #1.
the game is to eliminate "runner' scratches. these are the ones that remain when everything else is "done" usually only a hand full of them and they need individual attention with 2500/3000.
Pictures show surface sanded out with 5000
and picture of hood buffed out with 3M #1 compound.
i am a lousy photographer but with closest examination with 3 power glasses all sand scratches have vanished ..... that's a good thing.......... Click image for larger version Name:	DSCN1320.jpg Views:	0 Size:	32.3 KB ID:	5245
