  • Source for small crush rings for Recar sport seat knobs?

Does anyone have a source for replacement crush/retainer rings used for installing the knobs on Recaro sport seats?

Sorry, I don't sell or have any spares... though I did make a run of the knobs. Never thought about making just the retainer/clamp

Hmm... Interesting. It appears that I've been using the incorrect part. The part I have looks like a miniature version of the shift knob crush ring. I'll order these clips and see if that solves the problem. Thank you

The last seat hinge I took apart also had the miniature crush ring as well.. not sure how that part would replace it..

Keller, dying to see what you’ve been using. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a corrugated metal ring that tiny on any Porsches but might come in handy.

BTW: “Clamps” (Germans…. ) are the same for all Recaro seats, including comfort.

I'll look at originals and my reproductions and see what the difference is on my end (if any), and try to post a pic or two.

I'll probably try to make another run of knobs... maybe even try to do them from bakelite this time (expensive) just for fun... and make extra inserts. However, getting anything "made" these days is expensive and more difficult than it has ever been.

Keller - this is the one I have and I am looking for, is that the same you are looking for?

THIS is exactly why photos and precise descriptions are important.

OP specifically requested fasteners ("clamps" as Porsche calls them) for Recaro sport seat knobs. A monkey wrench may have been thrown into the thread. Below is a sport seat knob which is also the fore/aft knob for comfort seats. Let's make sure we properly distinguish between these and the round backrest release knobs on early comfort seats. Thanks.

                  Carry on.

Uhh probably needed to be more precise - but OP did not ask for "OP specifically requested fasteners ("clamps" as Porsche calls them)" but rather a crush retainer ring, hence why I am asking if that is the part he is looking for...

The only part relating to the knob is the clamp. Why OP is calling it a crush retainer ring I have no idea. It's not a ring, it doesn't "crush", but it does retain!

I would call that a retaining clip.

Yep. That's what I call them as well.

Keller, in case things got all jacked around here, these are available from Porsche.

Sorry guys for the confusion. When my brother called me I assumed he was talking about my '72 seats but he was actually talking about the knobs on his '66 seats. The small crush ring in the photo from
