  • The Removal of a Dansk Muffler from a 65 911

I would like to remove the Dansk muffler on my 1965 911 in order to have it recoated. It doesn’t look like there is a lot of room in order to remove/replace the muffler without bumping up against the painted rear panel. Is there a way to remove/replace the muffler without having to dismantle the rear panel? Thanks for any tips, advice, etc.

Yes.you remove the 4 10mm bolts at the flanges and loosen and move the 2 big clamps. The muffler will come out. A assistant will help avoid any rear panel damage. Sometimes you need a paint stick in between the muffler and panel to get the muffler seam beyond the rear panel. The rear panel will flex a little without damage.
