Fuel tank fittings

Guys
I took fittings from my old rusted out fuel tank and put in same location on my newly finished tank.
Car is 71 with carbs T ….
So 2 of the 3 fittings are not active as no openings
The only active is the supply with filter sock….is this correct ? meaning there is no return line

Normally there is a return line. See below item 7, 8 and 9 is return. Item 3 is the supply with the strainer.

Also some 71 911Ts have the fuel pump in rear near left sway bar mount. Still have a return line though. Many opine that near the tank is the preferred location because pump works better pushing than pulling and possibly have a cooler environment.
