Rear License Plate panel insulation

Has anyone used some sort of insulation on the backside of the rear License Plate panel to help minimize heat transfer from the muffler? I've never had a problem with the heat, factory never used anything, but as I get ready to install mine, thought I'd ask...

Yes I have a sort of heat shield behind mine. I can't remember exactly what I used, just a rectangle of something asbestos like.There should be some airspace between the muffler and the panel too.

I bought this heat shield from a race shop for maybe $20.00.

Chris, I looked it up, and called the company that sells it. They say the sheets are discontinued -- they only sell 1.5 inch wide version unless a race shop has some sheets left on the shelf, it's NLA. I'm sure there's something else like it
