  • Factory tech: Fuchs alloy service bulletin for 5.5's

In the process of building out a comprehensive library as a reference for parts production, I have acquired several factory Service Bulletin binders. in talking to JP we felt that this might be good to post as much of this doesn't get disseminated onto the forums that often.

This first one is a little bit "lighter" in terms of true tech, but here they describe using a Geze ski binding clamp to hold together a rim to assist in mounting a tire so the fuchs alloy doesn't get harmed.

A somewhat related question, Erik; what is the best current thinking on the safe usage life time of Fuchs 5.5 x 15 wheels manufactured in the mid 60s to mid 70s? I have heard of cracking around mounting holes on wheels used in competition, but how bout normal (for us) road use? Some of these are now over 60 years on the road, right?
