edscha wiper linkage questions

dear all,

concerning the Edscha (Eduard Scharwächter) wiper linkage I do have some questions concerning materials and colors.

the main part is silver with a clear coat, but the
linkage, is this:

(Reichsausschuß für Lieferbedingungen)
RAL 7042 verkehrsgrau
RAL 7030 steingrau

and does anyone of you have infos on the
“cross-style“ closure of the pressing?

I was told, the rest of the movable parts are made from industrial nickel….further infos on this..??

….my 65 unit was badly corroded, as the lubrificant was surely dried up already in LA.

as nearby no restored units do appear nowhere, I have to try and do some rescue remedy to the unit..

any infos are welcome.. offers for restored linkage also..

i bought a swb wiper linkage unit, which arrived already today.
It is still for an early swb car, engine motor parallel to the linkage,
but the linkage itself has
- different „pressings“
- no color, metal, looks like „treated“
- main part still silver with clear coat
- threads with secluded brass bushings
- „26“ stamping on the pivot base
- stamping over the „Edscha“ marking

all measurements are likewise the other one

I would call this one the
3rd execution

Assuming Phillipes from
300 090 is equal to other 901 versions
-> 1st execution

2nd execution
- linkage painted RAL 7030
- main part silver with clear coat
- pressings with „cross closure“
- treads with straigt flush bushings ending
- wiper engine SWF with cover SWDV 400.742, stamping BS 12V/22

Claudius allowed me to post the pictures of his linkages, also as he tried to compare the color on the linkage with the RAL chart.
As soon as we will try to photograph it, the white balance of the cameras will automatically differ it from the visual eye impression,
so it is really difficult to judge and determine.

in his word:
"The poles of the 2nd series have a slightly bluer tone than the later ones.
All pictures with the color table are attached to the linkage of the 2nd series.
Actually, no RAL tone really fits."

Please someone chime in on the color issue.

Concerning the technical part.

I had 5 different friends of mine judge with the RAL card and on my 2nd execution they all come to the likewise RAL 7030 ….“…looks the nearest..“

Phillipe, the owner of 090 did had these posted with the following comment:
„Hello,
I am disassembling the wiper mechanism from 300090.
All parts of the mecanisme are the same color.
Here are some pictures of the linkage.
I cleaned it with soap and water.
The closest color seems to be RAL 7042.

Question / remark: the plastic ring seems to have been melted in the linkage (red arrow last pict)“

And interesting to see, that there had been really different shades of gray in use.
Interested mind wants to know, but well , we never find out why…maybe the usual:
„…this is what we had that very week….“ or they produced deliberately in different shades in order to do a trace back to the production year/month/week…
