I have just circled back and checked the retailers.
Asse has the horsehair, but they do not have the tar mat that goes under it or the felt that would go on the wheelhouse area
Stoddard has the horsehair, but they do not have the tar mat that goes under it. They do have a felt pad for the wheelhouse areas
Seirra Madre has a kit that provides a tar mat type substitute (does not look correct). but no horsehair. It has felt pads. ( i ordered this kit and it was all over the place for missing and parts and template fit. In fairness I talked to Autos International who built the kit for Seirra and was told that it was an attempt by a new employee due to Covid.)
What I have learned is that we are on our own for finding the tar mat....
Any industrial roofing experts out there?

Here's a couple of pics. My floor in the 67S that's original, and a piece of the material I found in Germany and it's very close. While I have only a sample piece to show, it's got a significant amount of fiber in it. It's no longer available, and I'm using it up on my own cars (sorry!). It's a bitumen product, about 3mm to 4mm thick. I would guess that there has to be something in the european market that's being used by other makes, maybe in the UK? Holland?

Thanks for the pictures and information .
your original is thicker than 3or4mm. is it not closer to 5 or6mm?
i remember it now, and it was thicker material on the floor than the tar mat on the rockers 3mm and bulkhead 3mm.
your new material looks nice. Is it the same on both sides?
If i had my way, I would lay down 3mm tar mat and your bitumen on top
when you "found it in Germany" can you say were.... auto store, roofing company, building materials company?
I am convincing myself that the horse hair material did not go on the floor (as per your picture)
The horse hair material was on the rear parcel shelf and seating area.
I can only go by what I see.
Just to confirm... the original material on your floor is not horsehair?

I haven't torn up my original to measure, as it's in perfect shape.

The material on the floor is original, I have it in other cars (all 67's). It's a tar impregnated jute type of material. If you want to call that horsehair, that's up to you. It's definitely a bitumen/tar product, and NOT loose at all, which is what the aftermarket guys appear to be offering.

It's the same front to back essentially. It came in a roll. It's no longer being produced due to EPA type concerns.

            lol .... i don't want to call anything ...
Yes, you are correct. others are trying to sell horsehair for the floor
it is evident that horsehair is in the parcel area.
it is kind of funny, it is like i know the song but not the exact words
yet the song others are singing i know are totally wrong....
            thanks for looking Eric

Stoddard sells this for sound deadening also. Probably a good sustitute for everything but the floors. Wurth product and says bitumenous. Cheaper to buy from Wurth Click image for larger version

if originality isn't important to you, you may want to look into Kilmat. I installed their 50mil product in my hotrod after seeing Emory Motorsports using it. If it is good enough for Rod's hotrod builds, it is good enough for mine! easy to work with and to apply and lighter (.35lbs/sqft) than most options. i wanted to add some sound deadening to my hotrod, but put focus on weight and a therefore a spartan interior.
