    • TRANSFORMATION PREP:

1235 went back to Differs (the 2 owners split the companies – TwinSpark and a new company Differs – the main guys from TwinSpark went with Differs) for pre-assembly to position the RSR flares…

      • MOCK UP:

The Differs guys assembled the suspension, brake callipers and wheels with tires to be able to mock up the location for the RSR flares…

No matter how good fiberglass parts are manufactured (EB Motorsports are one of the best), they always need adjustment and trimming to get the right fit… 1235’s fiberglass parts were no different and would need some massaging to be right…

Took a lot of measuring, and trial fitting before we were happy…

        • HIGH OCTANE:

And we did a spare tire check – to see how big a tire and wheel we could fit… The 9 x 15 with 18/60 15 Michelin TB15 just fits with a standard fuel tank…

We were still debating on what fuel tank we would use… plastic 110 liter with through the hood fuel fill and cap, 100 steel or plastic 85 liter RS fuel tank – both with fuel fill and cap through the fender as it would be more in keeping with a road car , but to be able to easily change for racing if desired – our “north star” and trade-offs…

              • Checking the new 1973 style oil tank body modifications… We had decided to use the RS style oil tank instead of the RSR oil tank and thermostat setup… Differs had been racing their 2.8 and 74 3.0 style RSRs with standard RS style oil tanks without any issues… and it was something we could always retrofit if we felt it was needed…

                        • THE COLOURS OF A RAINBOW SO PRETTY IN THE SKY:

I had been thinking about colours for quite some time… And we needed to make a decision, so 1235 could keep progressing… While the list below is long, it had been narrowed down quite a bit from the original list… I thought I could narrow it down to a colour that was available in 1973, since I was building 1235 in the 1973 2.8 RSR style… But PTS was available then too, so that went out the window…

My old race car 9112501899 was Bahia Red (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/BahiaRed), and I had so many lovely memories of racing that car, so that was a strong contender… But, in the end, I decided memories were exactly that… memories… And 1235 would be for making new ones… So a new colour was in order… That effectively cancelled out red as a colour… Including Signal Red (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SignalRed), which I love… 2 down…

I have also always liked the other “Signal” colours, especially Signal Green (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SignalGreen)...

Then of course there are my other favourite greens:

                          Viper (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Emerald(Viper)Green)
                          Conda (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/CondaGreen)
                          Lime (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/LimeGreen)
                          Jade (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/JadeGreen)
                          Chartreuse (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/LindenGreen)
                          And maybe a 356 colour – Smyrna Green (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SmyrnaGreen)

Then, and not to be missed:

                          Signal Orange (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SignalOrange)
                          Gulf Orange (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/GulfOrange)
                          Blood Orange (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Tangerine)
                          Signal Yellow (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SignalYellow)
                          Lemon Yellow (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Lemon(Canary)Yellow)

                          I was leaning towards the greens… 5 more down…

                          • I’VE GOT THE BLUES:

I have always loved blue… It is my favourite colour, and has been as long as I can remember having a favourite colour… Probably something to do with the sea and my affinity to all things near, on, in and under the sea… So, 1235 would be blue… Now, which shade…

I, like a lot of Porsche fans, love Gulf Blue (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/GulfBlue)... And Gulf Blue had a special place for me, going back to 9113301270 – my first 911S… Then, I thought back to my criteria for eliminating Bahia Red… Old memories… time for some new ones…

I lusted after a Riviera Blue 993 RS when they were new… (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/RivieraBlue)

I love the Mexico Blue IROC car… (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/MexicoBlue), Lex, the principal at Differs (and founder of TwinSpark) has a 1974 IROC style historic race car in Mexico Blue, so I had a good vision of that in my mind…

Or maybe Emaile Blue (Golf/Sky) from the first year of the 911… (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/SkyBlue)... The guys at Differs were putting the finishing touches on a SWB 912/6 conversion for a customer in that colour with a red interior and it was stunning…

                            I also really like:

                            Olympic Blue (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/OlympicBlue)
                            Crystal Blue (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/CrystalBlue)
                            Oslo Blue (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/OsloBlue)
                            Aetna Blue (https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/AetnaBlue)

Colour choice seemed to be growing not narrowing…
